  • This lake once belonged my ancestors Babu Bind Narayan Jha from adjoining Belari village. This was taken away by Government for constructing power plant. Over period the lake has dwindled in size and lots of land around it have been occupied. I have heard that we had a small canal connecting this with Jamuiwari river in the north. This lake produced tons of floating rice. Even after selling most of it there used to be scarcity of place to store it and special godown was constructed in Belari. The harvest used to be carried out by boats and "mallahs" of nearby Lakhnipur used to be employed for the same. I have also heard that best rice harvests took place during the years of drought. This is particularly important because during British days people hardly had governmental support during drought.
