St. Andrew's Priory School was founded in 1867, by Queen Emma, wife of King Kamehameha IV, and Mother Priscilla Lydia Sellon of the Society of the (Anglican) Most Holy Trinity of Davenport, England. Queen Emma was raised in the Anglican faith and envisioned a school where Hawaiian girls would receive an education equivalent to the education that was traditionally offered only to boys. Today it's an outstanding K-12 school for girls of all backgrounds.
