An ecological research area for the study of forest management in northern Maine. Research organisims include birds, insects, wildflowers, trees, mosses, and lichens. Research was begun in 1997 in cooperation with the landowner (Plum Creek Timber Company) and continues to the present. The area includes upland spruce-fir forest, northern hardwood forest, sub-alpine fir forest, and lowerland spruce-fir forest. See www.manometmaine.org for additional information
