This is the approximate location of the sinking of the Goya...a German liner evacuating refugees from Gdynia/Danzig on 16 April, 1945. The Goya (5,000GRT) was sunk by the Russian minelaying submarine L3 commanded by Captain Third Rank Vladimir Konovalov. The Goya sank with approximately 7,000 people onboard...only 183 survived, making it one of the largest maritime naval disasters in history.
