This power station supplies almost all of the electricity for metro politan adelaide. It was originally designed to burn oil but was converted to burn natural gas after the first energy crisis of 1974. you can still see the oil storage tanks nearby.
according to TRu energy's website most of the gas for Torrens island comes from Victoria, but this is supplimented with gas from the Moomba gas fields in northern SA / Queensland via pipeline.
