  • In early days there were huge great Shimul (silk cotton) trees in the Northern part of the Field, measuring about 8 (eight Bighas, which has been used for more than 5 (five decades) by the children / youth of the locality as playground. The members of United Red Stars Club (affiliated to Nadia District Sports Association since 7th November, 1968, endeavored their best to develop the ground with their limited resources. The playground is in use for the development of Sporting and cultural activities in Krishnagar. Important Zonal, District Level and State Level games are played under the auspices of the Zonal and the District Sports Association. The ground has been recorded as the playground of United Red Stars Club, after due hearing, by the Block Land and Land Reforms Officer. On the 15th August, 2010, Shri Tapas Pal, Hony, Member of the Parliament has graciously inaugurated the Club House of United Red Stars Club, after hoisting National Flag in the ground cheered by thousands of his fans and local residents. Shri Somesh Kumar Bhattacharya, I.A.S., (District Magistrate, Nadia) has inaugurated the Library of the Club dedicated to the martyrs and freedom-fighters but for whose sacrifice India might not have won Freedom. The District Magistrate has given a clarion call to all youth of the locality to follow the ideals of Vivekananda and develop their lives with the firm conviction that they are possessing the ability to build themselves as responsible citizens. On the same day, Shri Brojo Roy of "Ganadarpan", Kolkata has formally declared it as an Information Centre for Pledge/Donation of Eye/ whole body after death for the noble cause of humanity above the barriers of caste, creed and gender with an aim in view of Universal Fraternity. The Club proposes to observe "teachers' day on 5th September, hold Legal Awareness Camp on 8th September and observe its 43rd Anniversary on the 7th November in Club House/ Ground. All are cordially invited to take part.All generous donations of Rs.10,000/- and above will be properly acknowledged by installation of marble plaques in the Club Building. The entire amount will be utilized for benevolent noble purposes only. Any amount of donation may be directly credited to Bank A/C of the Club maintained with State Bank of India, Krishnagar Branch.
