A scenic reserve administered by the Department of Conservation. Limestone bluffs are a dominating feature of this area. However, here the Wairoa River drops 35m over a hard layer of calcareous sandstone. The top of the falls is visible from the road bridge. A 5 minute walk from the car park leads to a viewing platform.
