Asansol is a coal mining and industrial metropolis and one of the busiest commercial centres in India. It is the second largest city and urban agglomeration in West Bengal after Kolkata and the 19th largest urban agglomeration in India. Asansol is located in the Burdwan District of India.

  • The corporation area is much more large;it includes Burnpur which is displayed differently.The greater Asansol should include Neamatpur,Barakar,Kulti,Chittaranjan,Raniganj,Jamuria as in case of Kolkata Salt Lake,Jadavpur,Alipur is etc. considered.

  • I am from a small place near the Panchet Hill. Asansol was the largest city that I had visited for the first time in my life. My family used to go for shopping in Asansol for things that we did not have in our area. Later, I lived in Ranchi as a student and Asansol definitely did not look as good as Ranchi.

  • An over crowded city with multi-culturalism and pathetic civic amenities.... Too dusty, hot and shortage of water in the summer....... High criminal activities, too pathetic the road conditions with only one major road ie. G T Road........ Still, you prefer ASANSOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Recently Asansol has been declared as seperate district with Asansol subdivision and part of Durgapur Subdivision. We demand the name of district should be remain as Asansol and as headquarter. A group from Durgapur is trying to shift it to durgapur. They must know Durgapur is merely a part of Asansol urban aglommeration and included in the Asansol metropolitan area. Also Central Gov. has declared Asansol as mission city which include township of Raniganj, Jamuria, Chittaranjan, Kulti and Durgapur for JNNURM projects. The previous State Gov. discriminate the Asansol Municipal Corporation , Kulti and Raniganj area for last 34 years, Now a new Gov. has come, they should give priority to promote all the neglected places. And all aware people from Asansol should raise the voice against further discrimination for this second largest and Metro city of West Bengal.

So always be responsive with your demand for civic amenities, education, health and other infrastructure facilities like other developed Cities in India and compell the right authorities to perform their work. At this Moment, pls raise your voice for New Asansol District with Asansol as headquarter new PINCODE system for whole District and like Kolkata, whole district as Asansol Mega City.
  • Asansol is a great place to live. sometime when i have to goout from asansol for somedays,I always think ,that when I will comeback to asansol. I always like to see asansol grow.More developement is required in this cty, mainly roads,water supply.
  • Asansol definitely requires a complete MAKEOVER. Thanks to our sluggish government, with their closed eyes only plans and shows a complete disinterest in raising the bar of so called no. 2 city in Bengal. I get to read a lot of sentimental thoughts and great grievance against the development authorities. It gives me a sense of lively people who thinks for Asansol and wants it to be developed. The roads, in fracture by n large, healthcare facilities, education, commercial status, all requires a boost. The level of corruption has gone to such dearth that the person who clicks photo at the RTO to make a DL asks for Rs.20 without any fear. Do they don't have self respect and gratitude towards their own city and eventually to the state, which could have proved itself to possess the business city of the country as 'Kolkata' or Calcutta then by history. It’s the feeling which says 'WE' need to think ahead and introspect, correct ourselves & surroundings. Statistically Asansol - Durgapur pays close to 2500 crore tax a year, shouldn't the government wakeup to have SOME development atleast??
