King George V Dry Dock (Southampton)

United Kingdom / England / Southampton

Used by British commandos to train for the St. Nazaire Raid.

At 1200 feet long and 135 feet wide, it was for nearly 30 years the largest dry dock in the world.

It is now nothing more than a marina after ABP destroyed the dock gate claiming it was too expensive to refurbish.

Only a matter of time before it is filled in and lost forever.

Another well done to Southampton council and the tremendous efforts they go to in order to preserve our history!
