Rakke railway station is located in the village of the same name in Väike-Maarja rural municipality, Lääne-Viru County. Elron passenger trains on the Tallinn-Tartu route stop at the station. Express trains do not stop in Rakke. Rakke station has 4 pairs of tracks, as well as a branch from the station to the Rakke lime factory. The railway station was opened in 1876 together with the Tapa–Tartu broad-gauge railway. When it opened, it was located on the lands of the Liigvalla manor in Koeru rural municipality. The opening of the station gave a significant boost to the establishment and development of the settlement, especially the lime industry. The two-storey wooden building of Rakke station was destroyed during World War II, and a simple one-storey building was built in its place. Today, goods can still be loaded and unloaded at Rakke station, and a railway branch runs from the station to the territory of the factory. Since 2012, a 55 cm high and 100 m long platform has been installed at the station. Today, the Rakke railway station is controlled by automation, but previously, a large team worked at the station, there were eight switchmen alone, in addition, there were crossing and station attendants, a station master, cashiers, etc. The station building is currently not in use.
