Punjab Institute of Cardiology is the first full fledge cardiac center with state of the art Emergency and Surgery center for every aspect of cardiovascular care and research. The center's faculty have enormous expertise in every aspect of cardiac care, ranging from standard procedures such as outpatient consultation, echocardiography, angiography, electrophysiology testing, percutaneous coronary revascularization and heart transplantation, to advanced clinical research into heart failure, cardiac rehabilitation, preventive cardiology, radio-frequency ablation, laser revascularization and cardiac MRI.

Outpatient services include a general cardiology clinic and specialized clinics devoted to preventive cardiology, heart failure and cardiomyopathy, rhythm problems and electrophysiology and adult congenital cardiac disease.PIC provides expedited transfer for inpatients referred for cardiac evaluation and treatment. In addition, for patients who are eligible and interested, the PIC offers clinical research protocols evaluating new technologies and treatments for cardiac disease.

This hospital was in the news in December 2019, when it was stormed by more than 200 lawyers in suits and ties and wielding sticks, apparently to protest some previous slight.
