The Püssi railway station was built in 1870 in connection with the construction of the Tallinn–Narva railway by the Baltic Railway Company. The opening of the railway station played an important role in the development of the economic life of Püssi. The configuration of the station changed and developed accordingly. Previously, a branch from the 1st station road, which is now occupied, led to the Püssi power plant. Two branches from the Narva side of the station to the territory of AS Repo Vabrikud have survived to this day. In December 1974, an approximately 4.5 km long industrial railway from the Püssi railway station to the Aidu (Maidla) quarry was opened, which was closed in 2012 and is currently dismantled. In 1976, the centralized electrical control system for the turnstiles and signaling at the Püssi station was completed. By 2015, centralised dispatching had been implemented on the Tapa–Narva railway section, as a result of which the Püssi station was transferred to remote control, i.e. there is no longer a permanent stationmaster at the station.
