One of the few remaining buildings of the Russian Imperial hunting lodge complex at Bialowieza, this church was where the Tsar and his family attended services during their visits. The palace itself, which was burned by the retreating German army on July 17, 1944, was at the site of the modern natural history museum to the west. Tsar Nicholas II and his family last visited here in 1912.
