Azerbaijan / Baki / Baku / Uzeir Hajibeyov Street
national government / government, place with historical importance, interesting place, 1952_construction

Public building for several governmental structures and ministries.

Was originally the site of the assembly before it moved to the less attractive Soviet-era building adjacent to Martyr's Alley and the Flame Towers. The symbolism of the building remained such that the independence protests of the 1990s all took place around this building. A prominent Lenin Statue used to stand in front before it was torn down and replaced with the Flag of Azerbaijan.

Built in the neo-Gothic style after World War II and constructed by German POWs.
