Installed at the limits of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, this medium power (giant turbines generate over a megawatt) wind turbine turns it's back to the wind.

Viewed from the back (generator group towards you), the turbine turns clockwise and generates very little noise. At 41 RPM (on a 45 RPM maximum) the day i was there, right below the turbine, i could just perceive the blade tip vortex noise and a weak continuous gearbox rumble. And there was a good southwest wind, but not enough to uncomb my hair.

This turbine is assembled in a way to be easily brought down. The base is on a swivel hinge. You can not miss it on aut. 20 between Québec and Rivière-du-Loup, especially if it is rotating.
