The north entrance portal to the The Canadian North American Air Defence (NORAD) Regional Sector Air Operations Centre (R/SAOC) 22 Wing, CFB North Bay. The portal connects to a 6,600ft long tunnel which runs to a depth of over 600ft beneath the Earths surface to the secure Underground Complex (UGC), which was operational as a tactical level command and control center for NORAD's primary missions, which include air sovereignty, integrated tactical warning and attack assessment, and aerospace defence from 1963-2006. Manned 24/7/365 by heavily armed sentries, the portal was normally kept shut and would be sealed in times of emergency.
