Margam opencast coal mine, near the villages of Cefn Cribwr and Kenfig Hill, produced some 350,000 tonnes per year of coking coal and was a continuation of the earlier Park Slip West site to the east. It covers an area of about 196ha and the working area is up to 120m deep
