Bergonialania was discovered in 1493 by British Explorer Hamb Urger. He brought news of the little island to the English population, and by 1600, it was officially open for immigration. It's ownership was switched to Canada in 1934 and now more than 10,000 people flock to the island every year. Bergonialania is a prime tourist destination for Canadian tourists, with numbers estimated at 15,000 tourists visiting each year from Canada alone, and 100,000 people owning seasonal cottages on the islands. Many planes stop here enroute across the Pacific Ocean.
At the time of its discovery, there was a tribe of natives numbering approximately 150 persons. Estimates indicate they lived on the Bergonialanian Islands since at least 250 BCE.
