The Calabar Free Trade Zone, which is Nigeria’s premier Free Zone commenced full operations after its commissioning in November 2001.
Located in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State in the South – South region of Nigeria, the Zone commenced its operation on 152 hectares of land before the host State, Cross River, granted additional 68 hectares of land, thereby bringing the total land area to 220 hectares.
The additional land was granted the Free Zone in order to cope with the upsurge of investors into the Free Zone. Currently, a total of 78 companies are registered with the Zone in various activities ranging from manufacturing, trading, service providers and oil and gas related activities.
From the above number, a total 31 companies are fully operational, 16 are in different stages of installation and test running of equipment/machinery while 20 are at different stages of construction with 11 are yet to mobilize to site.
The Free Zone complex is located adjacent (less than a kilometer) to the Calabar Free port which is fully equipped and operational.
Basic and modern infrastructures have been put in place at the Calabar Free Trade Zone to accommodate the investing public. Equally located within the Free Zone complex, are standard banking facilities which are fully operational:

1. Manufacturing
2. Assembling
3. Ware - Housing Services
4. Service Provider
5. Oil and Gas Related Activities
