Ledra Palace Hotel Crossing

Cyprus / Turkish controlled area / Nicosia /
Luxury resort built in 1949. Shelled by both sides during 1974 invasion. Paratroopers from the Canadian Airborne Regiment rescued and evacuated guests while under fire. Located in the no man's land between the borders, the hotel became living quarters for UN's Canadian contingent afterwards.
