East Point

USA / Washington / Friday Harbor /
 park, lighthouse

Part of Gulf Islands National Park Reserve. Set on sculpted sandstone cliffs, East Point became part of the national park reserve in 2006. Built between 1881 and 1887, the lightstation located here warned sailors away from the roiling waters of Boiling Reef just offshore. Nutrient-rich upwellings in this vicinity attract marine mammals and seabirds, providing excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
