America's oldest publicly funded park, in downtown Hartford. Established in 1868, Bushnell Park was the first plot of land in America to be taken by eminent domain. The Park River was directed under the Bushnell Park in the mid 1960's when I-84 was being built to the park's northeast. The park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
