Indian Institute of Management Indore was set up in 1998 and is the sixth IIM. The scenic 193 acre (781,000 m²) campus is the second largest amongst all the IIMs only after IIM Lucknow. Known as "Prabandh Shikhar" or "Peak of Management", this institute is truly a place of excellence in management studies.
IIM Indore has gradually been increasing the annual intake of students for its flagship two year Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) course from around 50 in 1998 to 240 in 2008.

The Symbol consists of a circle in four segments. The concept is visual and not dependent on letters of the alphabet. Instead, three segments, in blue, form three quarters of a circle, while three other elements move out of the space, which would have been occupied by the fourth segment. The circular form in the centre suggests the institution, while the incoming white space shapes the three moving elements. These elements indicate a freedom from all constraints, and form a separate entity, devoted to a specific purpose, in this case, management. These pieces have been put together because management is multi-dimensional and has to move together to form an organic whole.
The slogan Siddhi Moolam Prabandhanam . (Siddhi = Achievement; Moolam = Root; Prabandhanam = Management ... The Root of All Achievement is Management) appears below the symbol, further clarifying the meaning.
