Camamu is a municipality in the Brazilian state of Bahia. Its population is estimated at 40,000 inhabitants.

The municipality Camamu located in Costa do Dendê(Palm Coast), south coast, on the sidelines of the BA-001.

Camamu comes from a village of the Brazilian Indians who in 1561 was transformed into a parish, after the establishment of a mission of Jesuits. It was then Village of "Nossa Senhora da Assunção de Macamamu".

The starting point for boat trips on the bay, (the third largest bay in Brazil in volume of water, after the bay of "Todos os Santos" and "Guanabara") and to the Barra Grande, Peninsula Maraú, where there regular transport to Praia de Fora and its natural pools.

South of Taipus, deserted beaches and palm trees extend for tens of kilometers. The Blue Lagoon, Forest of Giants Bromeliads and Pond Cassange are some of the incredible places that are on the road.
