Palazzo Arnone (Cosenza)

The Palace was built in the early sixteenth century at the behest of Bartolo Arnone, Treasurer of Calabria Citra, who was personally interested in the project. His destination was changed, always in the same century, the palace became a prison. Was damaged by fire in the eighteenth century, due to a revolt of the prisoners, and finished only half of the next century. Its structure is rectangular and comprises two floors. The third floor, which originally was present, was destroyed during an earthquake in the nineteenth century. Inside the Palace, home of the National Gallery of the Department of Monuments of Calabria, there are many works of art, starting from the picture eighteenth century which is located in the lobby, which contains the emblem of the Royal Naples. At the Gallery you can see some works of the Superintendent.
