Mihwangsa is a Buddhist temple, established in 749 AD during the Silla Dynasty, located at the southern-most part of the Korean peninsula on the west side of Dalmasan (Dharma Mountain).

Mihwang comes from "Mi" (beautiful), after the unusually pleasing, strangely musical bellow of a cow, and "Hwang" (yellow/gold), for golden robes of the mythical founder.

Mihwangsa is a branch temple of Daeheungsa, the head temple of the 22nd District of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
