The bandstand is in the center of downtown, at the intersection of Water and Front Streets. It was designed by Daniel Chester French, and was a gift to the town from Ambrose Swasey in 1916. Prior to the current bandstand, there was a smaller wooden one that was built in 1895 in the same spot.
Over the years, aside from bands playing, there have also been weddings and other special occasions taking place here.
