Saint-Eustache is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in western Quebec, Canada, west of Montreal on the southwestern end of the Rivière des Mille-Îles. Population (2001 census) 40,378.
The city was founded in 1770 and incorporated into Canada in 1835.[1]
A significant battle of the Lower Canada Rebellion was fought here on December 14, 1837; the rebels were defeated and the town burnt. The Battle was to be known as The Battle of Saint-Eustache. A web site is dedicated to the Patriotes of 1837 at www.patriotes.cc
