The Einsatz Zentrale Basisraum (EZB) or Ops Center in English is the Austrian government bunker facility in St. Johann im Pongau in Salzburg. There are some nearby parkng facilities and office structures but the main entry looks like a building with a tenniscourt.

The Ops Center was built in the years after 1977 during the Cold War on the basis of experience gained from the events around the crushing of the Prague Spring that have been erected. That is why a 5 storey bunker 300 meters inside a mountain was built.

In addition to the heart of the Austrain airdefense system, "Goldhaube" (Goldcap) premises were provided for the Austrian Federal Government and the president in case of crises. From there, the government should continue to be carried out. There are even rooms for ORF spare transmitters.

The choice of location fell through geological and strategic considerations. Strategically was a case of threat from the former Soviet bloc. In this case, it was difficult to defend the east of the country but in the mountains defense would be easy. In case of a nuclear attack the government would be protected and made an effective government possible.

A further significance of the bunker was a possible escape in the wake of nuclear disaster in 1986 in Chernobyl.

The bunker was a state secret but in recent yearsthe bunker was open to the public. Besides the main use by the armed forces, the bunker houses about 250 federal government employees since 1982, including the computer backup of the Federal Chancellery (Zentrales Alternate System of the federation). Other institutions such as the Austrian National Library have setup data storage. In 2008 a backup computersystem for the Schengen EU market and the investigation data of the Schengen Information System (SIS) II was installed here.
