Phantasialand is an amusement park in Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, which attracts around 2 million visitors annually. It was founded on 30 April 1967 in the former open-pit lignite mine Berggeist, south of Brühl, by Gottlieb Löffelhardt and Richard Schmidt, one of the oldest amusement parks in Europe. Although initially a family park, Phantasialand has added adrenaline-filled attractions, especially in recent years.
