Legend has it that once upon a time Robin Hood hid from his enemies inside the hollow of the Major Oak.

Unfortunately, even though the decrepit remnant of this once mighty tree is held up by the wonders of modern technology, it is much too young a tree to have been around in the "real" Robin Hood's day. The legend must either have been a fabrication around this tree, or based on another, now long gone, tree.

One thing is for sure: outlaws roamed these woods for hundreds of years, poaching the King's deer, and perhaps some of them had idealistic ideas about the redistribution of wealth.
