Zoersel is a place in the municipality of the same name in the Belgian province of Antwerp.
The current core municipality of Zoersel is the southwestern half of the old lordship of Malle. Zoersel was first mentioned in 1240 as Surcele. The name refers to a house in the middle of acidic soils. The village of Zoersel originated as an originally Frankish agricultural hamlet within the lordship of Malle.
Zoersel will be part of Westmalle until 1794, after which the municipality of Zoersel arose from the southern part of Westmalle, consisting of the village of Zoersel with surrounding hamlets, and from the northern part, the municipality of Westmalle was formed, consisting of the village of Westmalle and surrounding hamlets.
