  • Lar tehsil is one of 3 tehsils of district Ganderbal.It is populous area stretched across the sub mountain ranges of harmukh.Most of the people of this area are socioeconomically backward and are easily exploited by the non resident as well as uneducated leaders.Tehsil lar has big population patches like repora(famous for grapes as sir lawerance has rightly said in his book "valley of kashmir" Dach az repor),Safapora for big military camps,watlar famour for man-wildanimal incidents.Walivar a kandi belt of tribal people with different culture and language than other parts of tehsil lar. In education lar ranks at the bottom of district Ganderbal.No one is highly qualified here pertinently they love to choose uneducated leaders like QAZI AFZAL who erased one of the girls high school of lar after coming in power in 2003 reducing the number of high schools of the tehsil. Most of the people are farmers earning their livelihood during summer in the agricultural fields.As most of youth of this area are dropouts these unemployed are earning some quick bucks by unloading goods from trucks reaching to few wholesale dealers. Roads of lar are in shambles and narrow enough one can notice it throughout out tehsil lar roads. Health center lar is located in the upper reaches where all the people cannot avail these health facilities.It is far off from the glare of higher officials hence can not be checked daily for its proper functioning. One of unique quality of the people of this area is maintaining strong social fabric of multi religiousness This area has a great potential for eco-tourism places like manasbal,hillanmarg,lar marg and religious places like Mesha sahib(R.A),shah sadiq qalander(R.A) are famous for their mesmering beauty. People of lar are innocent :)humble,sympathic and helpful to any one. They are mainly lead by emotions after lectures of politicians. They vote to non resident candidates mere for show off without caring for own life. Their temper is very low and can boil at very low temperature hence needs education for their long term solution for their low melting point problem.

It is natural process of wetland ageing.Every wetland goes through these phases like oligotrophic,mesotrophic to eutrophic stage it is natural phenomena but in area like ganderbal its speed is like '3G'.Our wetlands are at climax stage were we have planted willows means forest stage of succession process had reached in there wetlands. Wetland like Tulla mulla is dead now it has passed through all stages of succession the main reason for this was slitation Coming from the catchments through feeding channels plus anthropoienic pressure. Mitigation measures : STP's,watershed management,Check dames and landslide control measures in drainage basins of the wetlands.Afforestation of drainage basins can control east aging of our wetlands. Hope media,politicians,educational institutes and NGO's of ganderbal will raise this issue and press the concerned department for taking effective steps to control wetland shrinkage of our district.
  • This is for the people who do not agree with me.Your lar known as parganai Lar located on the foot hills of hurmukh sub mountain ranges.Socioeconomic status of people of this area is very good most of the people have their own industrial units:)business establishments:) shopping malls and almost 75% are govt employees. Here no one is earning from agriculture related works.Youth are highly qualified and are studying in ruptued institutes of state and across india and globe.The drop out percentage of lar youth is zero.Lar has produced great scientists:) well known to people opposing my ideas. Lar has one polytechniq college and also one iti. No drought like situation has ever occured in Waliwar area,no wild animals are found in watlar in broad day light, no big military establishments are in safapora.People of lar are not inocent ,humble. They are cool tempared.Power supply is 24x7 available.Road are not in shambles.This is for your kind info that lifeline of ladakh passing through lar has grabbed big chunk of agri field of lar.this road was not for rich people of lar but as a militaric stratgic point of view against neighbouring countries of india.(this is answer to my face book friends )

  • @Bilal...your comments about Lar sound so cynical and lack of knowledge of the area you are speaking about makes it worst. You seem to have some knowledge about state of wetlands so please stick to it. Moreover, preaching about some changes in the system ( with regard to conservation of wetlands), its better to BE THE change and doing something about it..cheers
