Stone fort built to protect Bath Iron Works in the 19th century.

As of 1851, it was intended to be armed with forty-five 32-pounder seacoast guns, fifty-two 24-pounder guns, four 18-pounder guns, six 12-pounder guns, five field pieces, nine flank howitzers, sixteen 8" heavy seacoast howizters, two 8" light howitzers, four 10" heavy mortars, two 10" light mortars, two 8" light mortars, one 16" stone mortar and two coehorn mortars for a total of 150 guns.
