John Brabin was a wealthy local businessman who lived in the village in the 1600's. He endowed the village with almshouses and left a fund which is held in trust. His gifts are intended to be for the benefit of the whole village regardless of religious denomination, and the money from the trust fund is used to benefit the education of all village children.
The original school building is just up the road. The one highlighted here is the current primary school.
