Located in outer Muscongus Bay, Eastern Egg Rock is barren, inhabited by puffins and terns.

By early 1900s puffins were extinct from most of Maine's coast, including Eastern Egg Rock. They were reintroduced starting in 1973 in an effort dubbed "Project Puffin", led by Stephen Kress.
