This monument was commissioned by King Yongjo in 1707 to commemorate the victory of Korean forces over the the Japanese during the Imjin Wars of the late 16th century. Though looted to Japan in 1905, where it was kept at the controversial Yasukuni Shrine, it was returned to Korea in 2006.
