The Convent of Lintula was founded in 1895 on the isthmus of Karelia, in the parish of Kivennapa. In 1946 the Convent moved to Heinävesi. Lintula monastery is administratively autonomous church under the authority of the Archbishop of Karelia and all Finland, the head of the Finnish Orthodox Church. Head of the monastery is a monastery igumenia Marina and the priest Archimandrite Herman of Valaam monastery.
The monastery church is open all year, but the tourist facilities are located mainly in the summer season, from June 1st to August 31st. May, September and October only by appointment. In the wintertime the nuns are busy in their candle factory, where they make bees wax candles for the use of all the Orthodox churches in Finland.
