Sluis

 hamlet, draw only border

Sluis is the oldest hamlet of the municipality 'Mol'.
In contradiction to the other hamlets it kept its rural stamp till today. Several large farms were established.
The name of the hamlet refers to the locks on the local rivers which watered the meadows in the area.
On the border with neighbouring hamlet 'Donk' are sand pits where the famous white sand is excavated since 1845. The sandpits created several large wells. This in turn gave the possibility of water recreation. So in 1959 the provincial domain 'Zilvermeer' went open to the public.
