 hamlet, draw only border

Gompel is one of the twelve hamlets of the Belgian municipality of Mol. The place is located near the Dessel-Kwaadmechelen Canal and is also referred to as a church village.
Gompel is one of the oldest settlements in Mol. It concerned a farm owned by the Abbey of Corbie and remained so when the rest of the guardianship of Mol was taken over by the Duke of Brabant in 1228. Already in the early Middle Ages, this was well connected with the centers of Mol and Ezaart. In 1559 the Abbey sold all its possessions in the northern Netherlands and Gompel was also sold, to Godfried van Bocholtz. Until the beginning of the 18th century, Gompel was still outside the freedom of Mol, but was then placed with Mol by the landlord Jan-Frederik van Renesse.
