... was constructed in 1869 or 141 years ago. Was cover-featured in Architectural Journal in 1982 (though was wrongly described in the magazine as "nearly 100 years old).

This house has undergone major face lifts especially on the exterior but has, nonetheless retained its old charm.

Architectural Journal noted the similarity between the flooring of this house and that of San Bartolome Church nearby which was built 8 years earlier in 1861. This made the author surmise that the architect of the church and this house may have been one and the same.

Bahay na Puti has metamorphosed from a school, tobacco factory; became a private home to a Filipino-Swiss couple, the Gazas, during World War II. It was spared from destruction by the Japanese Imperial Army because the Swiss flag flew conspicously outside its windows.

It was bought by the family of the current owner in the 1950's.

This family made its fortune trading lumber for the shipping industry in Malabon. The lumber yard behind the house is visible in this tag.
