Collapsing automobile bridge over the Vitim river

1982 April 17th. The combined - road and railway for temporary operation 565-meter bridge on Vitim entered into service. It was erected by the 97th detachment of Mostostroy-9. The opening of the bridge took place on the day of the Leninist communist subbotnik and was a great celebration for the builders, the natives of the Bauntovsky district of Buryatia and the Kalarsky district of the Chita region, which for centuries have been separated by a harsh and wayward river. The bridge received the name of International Friendship.

On May 12, 2018, one of the bridge supports was washed away by ice drift. The span structure "hung" and, if you do not build a new support (which is extremely unlikely), will also soon be at the bottom of the river. Details here:
