Marchmont House was built between 1750 and 1754 for Hugh Hume, the 3rd (and last) Earl of Marchmont. It has been subject to a series of significant later alterations and is situated in landscaped grounds, close to the site of Redbraes Castle. It lies on the east side of the small town of Greenlaw, and near the former village of Polwarth in Berwickshire, in the Scottish Borders.
Notable features include the ornamental plasterwork in its hallway, the mahogany-panelled library and the oak panelling in the music room, which also features a full-size organ installed in 1914.
