This cemetery was started by the 1st East Lancashire Regiment (84 graves) and the 1st Hampshire Regiment (56 graves) in November 1914, it was used as a frontline cemetery until March 1916 and occasionally later. The cemetery fell into German hands from April-September 1918 and they also made a few burials during this period.
