  • This is an unique institute of its kind in West Bengal. Since inception a lots of scientists were engaged in the institute and the outcome was unique. The chair of the Director is also brightened with the eminent scientists with some exceptions. Now a days it is trying to revive in its old glorious period. As a senior staff of the institute I wish its every success in the years to come.
  • Well I recently went for a picnic in that region . There are hundreds of houses just devoid of anything. its quite suspicious place
  • Haringhata Central Laboratory (HCL) --the Hydraulics and Soil Mechanics Divisions of the RIVER RESEARCH INSTITUTE WEST BENGAL, Irrigation &Waterways Department Govt. Of West Bengal (RRI)are situated in this laboratory. The statistics Division of RRI and the office of the Director RRI is situated at 11/A Mirza Ghalib Street Kolkata .RRi has hydraulics Laboratories and silt laboratories and river gauge and observation sites scattered throughout West Bengal like Galsi Model Station in Burdwan District, Manbazar in Purulia District, Silt laboratory at Siliguri, gauge sites at Ilambazar,Haroa, Digha, Namkhana, etc etc. The Hydraulic Model Studies of a number of very Important River valley Projects were conducted in this HCLaboratory and Galsi viz, Farakka Barrage, Mayurakshi Barrage, Kangsabati Project, Teesta project,Digha Beach Erosion etc. A number of Basic and Fundamental Research Projects sponsored by the Central Board of Irrigation &Power were also conducted here.It is situated in a scenic natural background.

  • Is it near Kachrapara? How will I go from Tollygunge?
  • From Tollygunge to Sealdaha or if you get a direct train to Kalyani from Budge Budge get down at Kanchrapara. From there just beside the station board a bus or Auto Rickshaw and they will drop you in front of the main gate of RRI
