interesting place, town hall, listed building / architectural heritage, 16th century construction

The City Hall of Graz went through three incarnations (the first in 1450) before the current structure was built in the late 19th century.

Embedded in the side of the building are some incongruous red-roofed structures which jut into the inner courtyard. These are the former houses of people who refused to give up their properties to make way for the new construction.
