Nayau, north of Lakeba, is one of the islands in the Lau Group. It was the ancestral home of the Vuanirewa Clan, which was later exiled to Lakeba and became the Paramount Chiefly family of the Lau Islands. The Paramount Chief is still styled TUI NAYAU (King of Nayau), however. Fiji's late former Prime Minister and President, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, held the Tui Nayau title.
