Bonheiden is a place in the municipality of the same name in the Belgian province of Antwerp. Bonheiden is located in the Mechelse Tuinbouwstreek and borders the Brabantse Kempen. The mocking name of the Bonheidenaren is Big men.
It is not entirely clear where the name 'Bonheiden' comes from. According to a tradition, the name of the village derives from Bodo's heather. Bodo is said to have been a 15th-century gentleman who owned a piece of heather land in Bonheiden.
