  • I was stationed at RC1 in the 2nd Inf Div band in 68 - 69. Saw Bob Hope, Ann Margret, etc. But my best memory was at the Z when the Pueblo crew were released. Wade Lawley --- wlawley@centytel.net
  • I was also at RC1 with the 2dID Band from May '69 to Jan 70. Had a good time there-- got into photography and learned to develop and print pictures in the Craft Shop next to the Library, and worked the desk at the Crossroads Service Club in my off-time. Best memory was when I printed up some pictures for a 1LT who wanted to send them to his family. He wanted to pay me, I declined. He then made me "an offer I couldn't refuse"... he was assigned to the JSA at Panmunjom, and said if I could get an afternoon off, he'd show me around. Couple weekends later, I met him at the JSA and even got into the conference room that straddled the border between N. and S. Korea. Sat at the table while he took a picture of me literally "up to my elbows in North Korea". Remember the swimming pool at Camp Beard (2/72d Armor) across the street from RC1? All told, glad I did my time there!
  • I was also there about the same time. I was a truck driver for HQ.
  • Remember the joke Bob made about Ann's legs?? I have about fifty pictures of that show in my Korean made album. I was with the Signal Company at Camp Casey. I was sent there from Vietnam in late January 1968 as reinforcement because of the Pueblo. Two days after I left Nam all hell broke loose, TET. To this day, I credit the Pueblo with saving my life.
