Hv1 (originally H8) is the state railway steam locomotive was used. In the early 1910s older locomotive train sets were the weights increases become overburdened, so the State Railways ordered a domestic locomotive factories in the former a much stronger type of locomotive H8. Tampella and Lokomo locomotives were manufactured by 42 in the years 1915-1921. Initial maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour was increased by 95 kilometers per hour in 1934. Series ID H8 Hv1 changed in 1942.
Hv1 locomotives were in use in passenger trains across the country for 50 years. The last locomotives rejected the mid-1960s. Locomotive 554 is monument in Riihimäki.
